Oracle DBA Responsibilities- Creating Oracle Database manually as well as using DBCA.
- Creating and managing database user accounts, roles, privileges, profiles and groups
- Configuring the Oracle Network Environment (listener, tnsnames.ora, sqlnet.ora etc).
- Managing Database Storage Structures (Tablespaces, Datafiles), Schema Objects.
- Periodic Backup and recovery, using Backup and Recovery Manager (RMAN) and Export/Import Utilities such as Data Pump).
- Periodic Database CLONING from production to Development and QA environments for PeopleSoft applications, maintaining Database Standards, Reviews, Documentation, Quality Assurance
- Oracle Database patch upgrade from 10.2.0.1.0 to 10.2.0.3.0 on Linux
- Snapshots, Views, DBlinks, Listeners set up
- OEM Repository Installation and configuring with various databases, nodes and instances.
- Configuring the EM repository, creating EM Grid Control users.
- Using Enterprise Manager to modify a database configuration or its availability (Blackouts).
- Creating and managing jobs, alerts and notifications.
- Implementing Grid Control and Database Control.
- Deploying Enterprise Manager Grid Control agents.
- Setting Flashback Database parameters, configuring a flash recovery area, performing Flashback operations, managing RECYCLE BIN.
- Moving Data (Data Pump, regular export/import utility, Transportable Tablespaces).
- Detecting database corruptions using the following utilities: ANALYZE, DBVERIFY.
- Proactive Maintenance by setting warning and critical alert thresholds.
- Monitoring Tablespaces Growth, write patrolling scripts for checking the health of the database to send automated alerts to DBA/SA.
- Conducting mock tests of disaster recovery periodically.
- Use Crontab for scheduling of alert scripts and ensuring their proper execution on a daily basis.
- Monitoring the database server for CPU, Memory and I/O utilization, and other I/O related Issues
- Monitoring the performance of the database by means of OEM Advisories, UDM etc.
- Monitoring server performance using OS utility TOPAS, NMON etc...
- Troubleshooting developer issues.
PeopleSoft DBA Responsibilities- Install and configure PeopleSoft server hosts, components, and clients for 3-Tier and 2-Tier.
- Install third party softwares(Tuxedo 6.5, 8.1, 9.1,Weblogic 8.1, 9.2 and OAS 10G).
- Install PeopleTools(PT822, PT846, PT848, PT849), PeopleSoft Applications(HRMS, CRM, FSCM, PORTAL, STAFFING, ELS).
- Create PeopleSoft databases with Oracle 9i, 10G, MSS2000 on UNIX and NT platforms.
- Configure Application server, Process Scheduler and PIA.
- Implementing Application Messaging using Integration Broker, Single Signon.
- Migrate/refresh databases, objects though Data Mover or externally.
- Create Windows Client Profiles for various development, test and production users and install.
- Implement load balancing for Web servers and application servers and monitor.
- PeopleBooks installation with search features and F1 features.
- Maintain integrity and internal consistency of the database using DDDAUDIT, SYSAUDIT reports periodically.

- Troubleshoot and fix performance issues with People code, App engine, SQR and other PeopleSoft programs.
- Coordinate db/app/web server maintenance including OS upgrade, db version upgrade, weekly app/web server recycle, and security patch installation.
- Monitor Daily Checklist including backup, space usage, messaging process status and connection usage.
